Posted: November 17, 2011 in Uncategorized

Week 10 is over and their were a couple of teams who had a couple players who stepped up.

Let’s start off with the Thursday night game between the Raiders and the Chargers.  QB Carson Palmer had a solid game with his second start throwing 299 yards, 2 touchdowns and just 1 interception.  Rookie reciever, Denarius Moore, caught both touchdowns and 123 yards.  Backup runningback, Michael Bush, run 157 yards, caught 85 yards, and rushed for one touchdown.

DeMarco Murray continues to shine in Dallas.  Rushing for 135 yards, ran a touchdown, and caught for 36 yards.  Reciever, Laurent Robinson, caught 2 touchdowns and added 73 yards.  These two shined for Dallas in Sunday’s win against the Bills.

Last but not least John Skelton of the Arizona Cardinals.  Skelton is the backup QB for Kevin Kolb.  Skelton threw 315 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.  What makes this more interesting is Skelton was undrafted.

NFL: Unexpected Performances 9

Posted: November 10, 2011 in Uncategorized

Week 9 is done and the Packers are still undefeated.

The Miami Dolphins finally got their first win against the Cheifs 31-3.  QB Matt Moore threw 3 touchdown passes, Reggie Bush ran for 92 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Marshall caught 106 yards and a touchdown.  You can view the highlights here.

Falcons rookie wide reciever, Julio Jones, caught 131 off 3 catches and had 2 touchdowns.  He had been injured since October 9th.

Cowboys’ rookie runningback, DeMarco Murray, continues  to wow.  He rushed for 139 yards and caught 4 catches for 47 yards.  He had to touchdowns but he is still running the ball pretty well and is showing he deserves to be the starter in Dallas.

DeMarco was’t the only running in that game who played well.  Seattle’s Marshawn Lynch had his best game of the season by far.  Lynch rushed for 135 yards and added a touchdown along with his best game of the season.

Week 9 is over.  The 49ers are still looking strong with a victory over the Redskins and the Giants beat the Patriots in their first match up since Super Bowl XLII

Week 8 is over and the Lions and 49ers are still the surprise teams in the league so far.

The 49ers have a record of 6-1 after defeating the Cleveland Browns.  A year ago the 49ers were 6-10.  They fired head coach Mike Singletary December 26, 2010 after their game agains the Rams.  They hired Jim Harbaugh in the off season and he is getting the job done.

The Panthers and the Vikings squared off and both starting quarterbacks were rookies and both had solid games.  Vikings’ QB, Christian Ponder, threw 236 yards and a touchdown.  Cam Newton continues to shine as a rookie. Cam threw 290 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Eagle are starting to look like the dream team Vince Young dubbed them to be.  Vick and the Eagles beat the Cowboys 34-7 this past sunday.  runningback, LeSean McCoy rushed 185 yards and 2 touchdown.

Last but not least my favorite, the Detroit Lions’ defense.  The Broncos are trying this Tim Tebow expirment and thinking it will work.  The Lions sacked Tebow SEVEN times, picked the ball off once, and forced him to fumble three times.  I have never liked Tebow in fact I call him Tearbow because he cried a couple times in college when he lost games.  He is joke.

Well thats all for week 8.  The unexpected will happen next week when the fate of Tim “Tearbow” Tebow’s starting job is on the line.  Hopefully the Oakland Raiders do us all a favor and end this Tearbow thing.

Week 7 is now in the books and we had quite some shocking performances.

First off, the Vikings started rookie quarterback, Christian Ponder, for the first time in his career against the undefeated and division rivals, Green Bay Packers.  Ponder started off the game with a 72 yard pass to Michael Jenkins.  Ponder threw for 219 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.  Not bad for a rookie against the best team in football if you ask me.

Cam Newton had another great game.  Cam did get the win and had only 5 incomplete passes.  Threw 256 yards and 1 touchdown.  He also rushed 10 times for 59 yards and rushed for a touchdown.

Last but not least DeMarco Murray.  Murray is a rookie runningback for the Cowboys.  His first run of the game was a 91 yard touchdown run.  He finished the game with 253 and averaged 10.1 yards a carry with a touchdown.

Week 7 is done and Murray was a surprised to most of the league.  I hope this kid sees more success and take over the starting role.

Week 6 is done and there weren’t that much unexpected performances in week 6.  BUT there was one unexpected trade.

The most unexpected thing to happen was the Oakland Raiders trading their 2012 first round and 2013 second round pick to the Bengals to get Carson Palmer.  For those who don’t know, Carson Palmer stated earlier in the year he would not take another snap for the Bengals and would retire if he was not traded.  Bengals owner, Mike Brown, said he wasn’t going to “reward”Palmer and that he had signed a contract and made a commitment by signing it, and trading him would show Palmer wasn’t committed to the Bengals.

The Raiders pulled off their first home win since the passing of Al Davis.  They defeated the Cleveland Browns 24-7.  The Browns broke Raiders’ QB Jason Campbell’s right collarbone and will miss almost the rest of the season hence the raiders going for Carson Palmer.  Shane Lechler for Oakland threw a touchdown after being the holder for kicker Janikowski on a fake field goal.

The Eagles bounced back against the Redskins after losing four games in a row.  Rex Grossman threw 4 interceptions and was benched in favor of John Beck for the rest of the game.

The Jets also snapped their losing by defeating the Dolphin 24-6.  Cornerback Darrelle Revis had an interception for a 100 yard touchdown which can be viewed here.  People have said Revis had a little bit of pass interference but if you ask me Marshall was trying to run him over, running through his  route, and falling over leaving Revis wide for the pick six.

Week 6 is over and the Lions lost their first game to the 49ers.  Both teams are 5-1 for the season which surprises most people.  The Bengals are 4-2 with rookie Andy  Dalton at QB after defeating the winless/Peyton Manning-less Colts.

Week 5 done and over and the NFL had  a tragedy over the weeked.  Oakland Raiders owner, Al Davis, passed away at the age of 82.  The cause of the death is unknown.  Al Davis was an iconic figure in the NFL and famous for his saying “Just win, baby.”  And the Raiders just did that in a 25-20 win against the Houston Texans.

The Eagles go out and show how this “dream team” is more of a nightmare.  The Eagles are now 1-4 and lost to the Bills on Sunday 31-24.  The Bills continue to impress as the Eagles regress.  The Bills are tied for the division with New England for first with a 4-1 record.

Fred Jackson runs in for a touchdown

The 49ers continue to impress with a 4-1 record.  They sit at the top of their division and just beat Tampa Bay 48-3!  Kicker David Akers, scored 12 of their 48 points and quarterback, Alex Smith, threw three touchdowns.

Week 5 was filled with a decent amout of surprises.  The Lions continue to be the surprise team of the season with a victory over the Bears mmonday night, they improved to 5-0.  The Eagles are still a nightmare.  And surprisingly I won my first fantasy game of the season by .08.  That is clutch right there.

With Week 4 done, some of the season surprises still seem to wow us.  Cam Newton may have lost but still threw 374 yards with a touchdown and rushed for two touchdowns.

The Detroit Lions continue to show they are legit.  For the second week in a row they were down at the half and came back and won it.  Tony Romo showed cannot close out a fourth quarter.  The Cowboys scored zero in the fourth while the Lions went to score 17.  Romo threw two interceptions which helped Detroit top off this victory to improve to 4-0.

Last but not least the 49ers came back from a 17 point deficit against the “dream team.”  Many had the Eagles going to the Super Bowl this year but with their 1-3 record it looks like that won’t happen until they turn it around.  Every year the 49ers are supposed to have “that year” where they are playoff contenders.  It is a shocker to see them 3-1 and number one in the division for a change.  Alex Smith was the QB taking the snaps.  He has had a rocky career because it seems like he gets a new Offensive Coordinator each year.  He posted 291 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.  Could this be the year the 49ers make the playoffs?

Redskins’ back up runningback, Ryan Torain, had a very productive day.  The back up ran 135 yards and one touchdown in Washington’s 17-10 win against the Rams.  With this performance there is speculation that Torain could possibly take the starting job.

Week 4 is over, Buffalo is no longer undefeated and week 5 coming up teams bye weeks will be starting.  The Browns, Ravens, Cowboys, Dolphins, Rams, and Redskins will not be playing next week.  Detoit will be playing Monday night.  Will they continue to be elite and take down their division rival Chicago? We’ll found out Monday.
